BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean boy band formed in 2010. The band consists of seven members: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, who co-write or co-produce much of their material. BTS stands for the Korean phrase Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates literally to Bulletproof Boy Scouts. According to member J-Hope, the name signifies the groups desire "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets". In Japan, they are known as Bōdan Shōnendan. In July 2017, BTS announced that their name would also stand for "Beyond the Scene" as part of their new brand identity.

BTS is a Grammy-nominated South Korean group that has been capturing the hearts of millions of fans globally since its debut in June 2013. They have gained recognition for their authentic and self-produced music, top-notch performances, and the way they interact with their fans. BTS has established themselves as “21st century Pop Icons” breaking countless world records. They have been nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the 63rd Grammy Awards and recognized with numerous prestigious awards like the Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards.

BTS has experimented with various music genres, including R&B, rock, jazz hip hop, EDM, moombahton, tropical house, future bass, Latin pop, slow-dance ballads, emo rap, Afro pop, funk, trap, pop rock, hip pop, and disco. They have a devoted following of fans called ARMY. BTS has broken numerous records on YouTube, including for the most views of a music video within 24 hours of its release. They are the first K-pop group to ever top the U.S. album charts.

In addition to their music and internet presence, one thing that sets this group apart from others is their focus on more serious topics like mental health. In September 2018, BTS became the first K-pop group to speak in front of the United Nations, delivering a speech on self-love and acceptance.
