Bubble gut bodybuilding is a condition where bodybuilders develop a distended stomach, giving them a bloated and rounded physique. It is also known as Palumboism, HGH gut, insulin gut, muscle gut, bodybuilder belly, or bubble gut. The condition is caused by a combination of factors, including genetics, increased calories, HGH and insulin, and water retention due to high carbohydrate intake. The use of insulin and Human Growth Hormone (HGH) in tandem with a high-calorie, high-carb diet is believed to be the primary cause of bubble gut. The condition is dose-dependent, and classic physique competitors who use a little HGH and insulin are not getting as big as those who use more. To prevent bubble gut, bodybuilders can taper down their HGH and insulin dose close to competition, use intermittent fasting when cutting, reduce carbohydrate intake throughout contest preparation, and ensure correct timing and nutrient intake when carb-loading.
