Burning Man 2023 was a week-long gathering that took place from August 27 to September 4, 2023, in the Black Rock Desert in Pershing County, Nevada. An estimated 73,000 people attended the festival. Burning Man is not a festival, but rather a city created entirely by its citizens, who are active participants in the experience. The nonprofit Burning Man Project produces the annual Burning Man event in Black Rock City and provides year-round support, connection, education, and grants to an ever-growing network of Regional Burning Man communities in more than 40 US states and 35 countries. The theme for Burning Man 2023 was ANIMALIA, and the event was described as an ANIMALIA circus inspired by the participants. The Burning Man Journal and Jackrabbit Speaks are publications that provide information about all things BRC-planning and more, including ticketing information, efforts to make BRC 2023 and beyond more sustainable, diverse and inclusive, and how the community intends to keep everyone safe as they gather together in the summer of 2023. The Burning Man Project is guided by the values expressed by the 10 Principles, and it is a global ecosystem of artists, makers, and community organizers who co-create art, events, and local initiatives around the world.
