The Burning Man Festival is a week-long gathering that takes place in the Black Rock Desert in Pershing County, Nevada. It is not a traditional festival but rather a temporary city created by its participants, with almost everything that happens being created by the citizens themselves. The 2023 Burning Man event was the 35th edition and took place from August 27 to September 4, with an estimated 73,000 people in attendance. The theme for the 2023 event was "ANIMALIA".
Black Rock City, the temporary community created for the festival, is designed to be away from modern life, and participants are encouraged to switch off their phones and fully interact with the people and art around them, following the 10 Principles of Burning Man. The event features various art installations, performances, and experimental happenings, with the culmination being the burning of the structures that have been created.
