The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group is a network of nearly 100 mayors from the worlds leading cities who are united in taking urgent action to confront the climate crisis. The group represents one twelfth of the worlds population and one quarter of the global economy. It was created and led by cities, with a focus on fighting the climate crisis and driving urban action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and climate risks, while increasing the health, wellbeing, and economic opportunities of urban residents. C40 provides a suite of services to support the efforts of member cities, including direct technical assistance, facilitation of peer-to-peer exchange, and research, knowledge management, and communications. The group also works to position cities as a leading force for climate action around the world, defining and amplifying their call to national governments for greater support and autonomy in creating a sustainable future. The C40 network is committed to being an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organization, and its members are reviewed annually against the Leadership Standards to ensure commitment to climate action.
