CEC stands for Consumer Electronics Control, which is a feature of HDMI designed to allow devices connected through HDMI to be controlled using only one remote control. This feature enables individual CEC-enabled devices to command and control each other without user intervention, for up to 15 devices. It is a one-wire bidirectional serial bus based on the CENELEC standard AV.link protocol to perform remote control functions. CEC is supported by a wide range of consumer and professional audio-visual devices such as televisions, Blu-ray players, digital media streamers, and game consoles. Manufacturers often have their own brand names for CEC, such as Anynet+ (Samsung), Aquos Link (Sharp), BRAVIA Link and BRAVIA Sync (Sony), HDMI-CEC (Hitachi), and others.
