CISA stands for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, which is a component of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responsible for cybersecurity and infrastructure protection across all levels of government. CISA works with partners to defend against todays threats and collaborates with industry to build more secure and resilient infrastructure for the future. CISAs mission expands across three primary areas: cybersecurity, infrastructure security, and emergency communications. Some of the key responsibilities of CISA include:
- Coordinating cybersecurity programs with U.S. states and improving the governments cybersecurity protections against private and nation-state hackers.
- Managing National Special Security Events, such as the census and the U.S. response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
- Assisting both other government agencies and private sector organizations in addressing cybersecurity issues.
- Sharing information with critical infrastructure partners and serving as the national hub for cybersecurity and communications information, physical threats like bombings and active shooter situations, and data sharing in near-real time.
CISA also offers a certification called Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), which is world-renowned as the standard of achievement for those who audit, control, monitor, and assess an organizations information technology and business systems.
