Club 33 is a private dining club located within the various Disney Parks. It was first opened in 1967 inside Disneyland Park and was modeled after numerous executive VIP lounges created by pavilion sponsors in the 1964 New York Worlds Fair. Club 33 is the most exclusive Disney dining in the world, with a long waiting list to join. It is an ultra-exclusive venue for important figures to duck out of the crowds, cool down with a beverage, and consume expensive meals inside Disneyland. Club 33 is not a secret society, the meeting place for a cult founded by Walt Disney, or anything nefarious. It is a place where wealthy Disney enthusiasts, Southern California executives, and celebrities can enjoy an alcoholic beverage and consume expensive meals inside Disneyland. Club 33 is not a restaurant, it is the ultimate Disney experience, which happens to include a meal. The club is invite-only, and it costs a pretty penny in membership fees. The reason it’s so exclusive is because of Walt Disney’s original vision as a place to entertain VIP guests. Club 33 operates in plain view of Disneyland guests, and it is literally above New Orleans Square with a balcony and abundance of windows that can see out and in. The original Disneyland location was intended for use by Disneyland's corporate sponsors, but when it opened on June 15, 1967, six months after Disney's death, individual memberships were also offered. Additional locations of Club 33 currently exist at Tokyo Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland and as a lounge in each of the four theme parks of the Walt Disney World Resort. Disneyland Club 33 members, and their guests, also have access to the 1901 Lounge at the Carthay Circle in Disney California Adventure.
