what is conductor

In physics and electrical engineering, a conductor is an object or type of material that allows the flow of charge in one or more directions. Materials made of metal are common electrical conductors. Conductors conduct electricity since they offer little or no resistance to the flow of electrons, thus leading to a flow of electrical current. Most metals like copper are considered good conductors, while nonmetals are considered bad conductors, or insulators. Conductors include metals, metal alloys, electrolytes, and some nonmetals like graphite and liquids. In addition to electrical conductors, the term "conductor" can also refer to a person who leads an orchestra or a musical ensemble. This individual is responsible for helping the musicians start and stop together, setting the tempo, showing the beat patterns, and indicating when different musicians should start playing.
