Crossfade is a feature in Spotify that allows for seamless transitions between tracks by fading out the first track while fading in the next. It is disabled by default on new Spotify accounts, but it is easy to set up on both the desktop and mobile versions of the app. To enable crossfade in the Spotify desktop app, follow these steps:
- Launch the Spotify app on your desktop and click the down arrow next to your account name.
- From the menu, choose Settings.
- Scroll down on the Settings menu and click Show Advanced Settings.
- Next, click the switch next to Crossfade songs under the Playback section to enable the feature.
- Adjust the slider to enter how two tracks crossfade. You can select any value from 0-12 seconds.
To enable crossfade on the mobile version of Spotify, follow these steps:
- Launch the Spotify app on your mobile device.
- Tap Settings (gear icon).
- Tap Playback, and go to ‘Crossfade’.
- Move the slider to pick a crossfade length.
Note that you can adjust the crossfade length to anywhere between 1 and 12 seconds. If you dont want to crossfade anymore, flip the switch to turn it off. Crossfade is a useful feature for creating a gapless playback experience of the tracks in your playlists.
