Crucial Catch is an initiative by the National Football League (NFL) and the American Cancer Society (ACS) to fight cancer through early detection and risk reduction. The initiative promotes prevention and early detection of cancer, which can impact anyone at any age, and increases access to lifesaving cancer screenings. Crucial Catch helps more people catch cancer early and addresses the unequal burden of cancer in under-resourced communities. Since 2009, Crucial Catch has raised more than $27 million and impacted over one million people in communities that need it most.
Each year, every NFL team raises awareness during their Crucial Catch game, which features on-field and in-stadium Crucial Catch elements. Crucial Catch games also present a special opportunity to honor cancer survivors and those currently battling cancer. Fans are encouraged to take their health into their own hands by getting screened for cancer and educating themselves on the importance of early detection. The initiative also includes community grants and partnerships with companies like Sleep Number to broaden its impact.
