Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is an entry-level certification designed to provide professionals with an understanding of the Scrum project management methodology. The certification process includes attending a two-day (16-hour) course taught by a certified Scrum trainer and passing an exam by getting at least 24 of the 35 questions correct. The course has no prerequisites, and after passing the exam, candidates will be asked to accept the license agreement and complete their Scrum certification.
The CSM certification provides candidates with an understanding of Scrum values, which emphasize teamwork, accountability, and iterative progress towards a well-defined goal. Professionals who have earned the CSM can fill the role of either Scrum Master or Scrum team member. The Scrum Alliance confers the CSM credential, which is an entry-level certification. This certification focuses on the fundamentals of Scrum, iterative progress, accountability, and team performance. As a CSM, you can move forward in your career and earn additional certifications, such as Advanced Certified ScrumMaster and Certified Scrum Professional – ScrumMaster.
