DAMA stands for Data Management Association, which is a global not-for-profit organization that aims to advance concepts and practices about information management and data management. DAMA has been the leading organization for data professionals for over 30 years, developing a comprehensive body of data management standards and practices. DAMA International is a global association present in all continents through DAMA Chapters, which bring global Data Management standards to locations across the world. DAMA also provides a professional data management certification for individuals known as a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), which is based on the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK) as a study reference. The DMBoK is a comprehensive framework for data management that was created by DAMA International. It includes 10 core knowledge areas, such as data governance, data architecture, and data quality, among others. The DAMA-DMBOK can serve as a valuable resource to create a data governance framework for organizations, helping to establish a comprehensive and consistent approach to data management across different teams and verticals, preventing data silos and facilitating data integration.
