The Dark Urge is an origin archetype in the video game Baldurs Gate 3. It is a preset character with some locked-in attributes, allowing players to play the game as a bloodthirsty character with a deep hunger for murder. The Dark Urge wipes the player character's memory but leaves them with a compulsion for murder that is ever-present. The character wakes up with no recollection of their life before the Natiloid crash, save for a desperate yearning for violence and bloodshed. The Dark Urge initially alters dialogue options, and violent thoughts will plague the player character and make up the majority of their background goals. The Dark Urge has exclusive items only available with this origin, as well as a unique shapeshifter form, The Slayer.
