Enbrel is a prescription medication that is injected under the skin once a week. It is used to treat several conditions, including:
- Moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
- Psoriatic arthritis (PsA)
- Moderate to severe plaque psoriasis (PsO)
- Ankylosing spondylitis (AS)
- Moderate to severe polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)
Enbrel is a type of drug called a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker. TNF is a protein that causes inflammation in the body, and Enbrel blocks the action of TNF in the body. By doing so, it helps manage certain conditions related to TNF. Enbrel can be used with steroid medications such as prednisone to treat rheumatoid arthritis, polyarticular JIA, and ankylosing spondylitis.
