Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) is a military profession that involves detecting, locating, rendering safe, and disposing of explosive threats. EOD technicians are highly trained military members serving in the Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force. They are the preeminent tactical and technical explosives experts in the Army. EOD technicians are trained to detect, disarm, and dispose of explosive threats in the most extreme environments. They work in small teams and consistently perform in a high-stress/high-stakes environment with minimal oversight while required to solve complex problems. The EOD profession is one of the most dangerous occupations in the military, and on average, there are over 6,000 brave men and women serving as EOD technicians who willingly put themselves in harms way to protect the lives and property of others. EOD technicians are immediately certified as UXO Technicians and receive training on advanced electronics, chemistry, forensics, and problem-solving methodologies.
