Erasmus Mundus is a scholarship program that aims to enhance the quality of higher education through scholarships and academic cooperation between the European Union (EU) and the rest of the world. The program supports Joint Programs (Masters Courses and Joint Doctorates) that are operated by consortia of higher education institutions from the EU and elsewhere in the world. Erasmus Mundus funds a number of scholarships for students and academics studying or teaching on Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses. Since 2010, fellowships have also been available for doctoral candidates following one of the Joint doctorates. Scholarships cover participation costs, subsistence costs, and insurance for the duration of the study period, and many students also have the right to a contribution to travel costs.
Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are prestigious international masters, jointly designed and delivered by a group of higher education institutions. They involve at least three institutions from at least two different countries, and students can gain either a joint degree or multiple degrees. The scholarship covers participation costs to the EMJMD, and the scholarship will pay for participation costs, subsistence costs, and insurance for the duration of the study period.
The program is designed to help students gain a high-level and integrated study program at the masters level, and the EU provides funding for both running these programs and offering competitive scholarships to the best students worldwide. The program is open to students from all over the world, and students can apply directly to the institution running their chosen program.
