The establishment ID in PF is a unique 7-digit number assigned to each organization that is covered under the EPF scheme 1952. It is part of the employees PF account number and is used to identify the organization that is responsible for handling the employees EPF account. The first seven numbers of the PF account number represent the establishment ID, while the next three numbers represent the extension code of the same establishment ID. The establishment code is a 5-digit code that is part of the PF account number.
To find the establishment ID of an organization, an employee can follow these steps:
- If the employee knows their PF account number, they can easily find the 7-digit establishment code based on the format of the PF account number.
- If the employee does not know their PF account number, they can find the establishment code of their organization online by using the EPFOs establishment search tool. The employee needs to enter the name of their organization (or part of it) and the captcha code to search for the establishment code.
It is important to note that the establishment ID is required for various EPF-related activities, such as withdrawing EPF balance, transferring EPF balance from a previous member ID to the current one, and finding the UAN.
