Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid drug that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent. Fentanyl can be tested using a fentanyl test strip by placing a small amount of the drug supply in a container, adding about 1/4 inch of water to the container, inserting the fentanyl test strip in the water for 15 seconds, taking the fentanyl test strip out of the water and laying it flat for two minutes, and then reading the fentanyl test strip.
