A fisheye lens is an ultra wide-angle camera lens that produces strong visual distortion to create a wide panoramic or hemispherical image. Unlike regular lenses that keep straight lines straight, fisheye lenses have a characteristic convex, curved appearance, capturing very wide fields of view, often between 100 and 180 degrees or more. The name comes from the idea that the lens simulates how a fish sees the world underwater with a wide, hemispherical viewpoint. These lenses are commonly used in photography, film, and for special effects, particularly in extreme sports and artistic shots where a distorted perspective is desired.
