In class 8, students learn about the concept of force in their science curriculum. Force is defined as a push or pull upon an object resulting from the objects interaction with another object. It is an external agent capable of changing a body’s state of rest or motion, and has both magnitude and direction. The SI unit of force is Newton (N) . There are two types of forces: contact force and non-contact force. Contact force is applied to objects by bringing them into contact, while non-contact force is applied to the body without coming in contact. Examples of forces include frictional force, applied force, normal force, gravitational force, magnetic force, and electrostatic force. Students in class 8 also learn about the effects of force on objects, such as changes in motion and deformation.
