Frame rate, often expressed as frames per second (FPS), is a measure of how many frames are displayed or captured in one second of video. It is an important factor in video production, gaming, and other visual media. Different frame rates are used for different purposes, such as 24fps for movies, 30fps for live TV broadcasts, and higher frame rates for slow-motion video or video game footage. The higher the frame rate, the slower the slow-motion effect will be when the video is played back. While a higher FPS does not directly translate to higher video quality or resolution, it does allow for smoother and more realistic action footage, especially when played back in slow-motion. The human eye can process about 16 to 18 frames per second for a smooth interaction of images, and a standard frame rate of 24fps has become established in film and video technology.
