FUBU is an American hip hop apparel company that was founded in 1992. The name FUBU stands for "For Us, By Us," and it was created when the founders were brainstorming for a catchy four-letter word following other big brands such as Nike and Coke. The company includes casual wear, sports wear, a suit collection, eyewear, belts, fragrances, and shoes. FUBU was launched by four friends who wanted to create a line of sportswear made by the people who wore it, for the people who wore it. The brand became popular in the mid-1990s and was stocked by high-end department store retailer Macys. At its peak in 1998, FUBU grossed over $350 million in annual worldwide sales. FUBU has received several honors for their entrepreneurial achievements. In 2020, FUBU launched a new collection that combines the contemporary and the classic. FUBU is not meant to be racist, and the name is an acronym that stands for "For Us, By Us". On Feb. 24, 2023, FUBU celebrated 50 years of hip hop fashion.
