Generation Y, also known as Millennials, is a demographic cohort born between the early 1980s and the mid-1990s to early 2000s. They are the demographic cohort following Generation X and preceding Generation Z. Most Millennials are the children of baby boomers and older Generation X. As the first generation to grow up with the Internet, Millennials have also been described as the first global generation. They are generally marked by elevated usage of and familiarity with the Internet, mobile devices, and social media. They are also known as digital natives. In the workplace, Generation Y is characterized by their desire for work-life balance, their preference for flexible work arrangements, and their desire for meaningful work.
