Global warming is the phenomenon of a gradual increase in the temperature near the earth’s surface. It is caused by the release of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other gases into the atmosphere. The greenhouse effect is a natural process where the sunlight passes through the atmosphere, thus warming the earths surface. The earth's surface releases energy in the form of heat in the atmosphere, maintaining the balance with the incoming energy. However, the excess accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere traps more heat, leading to an increase in the earth's temperature. The major causes of global warming include deforestation, burning fossil fuels, agricultural activity, decay of dead organisms, thermal power plants, and pollution from automobiles. The effects of global warming include rising sea levels, melting of glaciers, changes in precipitation patterns, and more frequent and severe weather events. To prevent global warming, we need to reduce our carbon footprint by using renewable energy sources, reducing waste, and conserving energy.
