Gowri Nalla Neram is a Tamil term that translates to "Good Time or Auspicious time". It is a concept in Tamil astrology that refers to the time of day when all the celestial forces are aligned in ones favor, making it a favorable time to start new work or events. The traditional Tamil Calendar or the Tamil panchangam helps people in choosing the 'nalla neram'. There are five good Gowri Panchangam timings, Amirdha, Dhanam, Uthi, Laabam, and Sugam, to start auspicious work. Three bad Gowri Panchangam timings, Rogam, Soram, and Visham, should be avoided. Nalla Neram is the time that gives fruitful results and is considered auspicious in Tamil astrology. It is mostly followed by the South Indian population. The concept of Gowri Nalla Neram is used to find the right time in a day to start off things or to ward off the bad timings from life events. The timings for Nalla Neram and Gowri Nalla Neram are published in respected Pambu Panchangam in Tamil Nadu.
