Guruvayur Ekadasi is an important festival observed at the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple in Kerala. It falls on the 11th day of the Vrischikam month as per the traditional Malayalam calendar, which corresponds to the month of November or December. The festival is of great significance to the temple, and it is observed by fasting on the Ekadasi tithi (11th day) and ending it before Dwadasi tithi (12th day) ends. Rice, salt, and grains are completely avoided on the day, and devotees visit the Krishna Temple to offer their prayers. One of the most important rituals associated with Guruvayur Ekadasi is the lighting of Ekadasi Vilakku (lamps), which starts a month before the actual Ekadasi day. The entire temple is lit with traditional lamps during this period, and the oil and necessary items required for the ritual are offered by the devotees
