HMS Core (Huawei Mobile Services Core) is a mobile service framework that provides a variety of service capabilities to app developers. It is a toolkit for app development on Huawei devices and serves as a replacement for Google Mobile Services (GMS) Core. HMS Core provides basic services for Huawei devices, such as HUAWEI ID and payments, and also provides developers apps with a multitude of services, such as message push, quick HUAWEI ID login, in-app purchases, positioning, map, games, and machine learning, to help them bring a better user experience to Huawei device users. HMS Core can run on the Android Open Source Project (Android system) and supports Android apps, but certain Android apps require support from GMS Core and may not be able to run on HMS Core. HMS Core is made up of various APIs, SDKs, and services that developers can use to create and improve apps. Huawei Mobile Services has been around for years, but Huawei relaunched and expanded the platform following the US ban that deprived it of Google Mobile Services. HMS Core 5.0 debuted in September 2020 and HMS Core 6.0 launched in June 2021 with extended support for Huawei's cloud services.
