Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) is a proprietary embedded server management technology built into HPE products that allows for remote control access to ProLiant servers. It is a remote server management processor embedded on the system boards of HP ProLiant and Blade servers that provides out-of-band management facilities. iLO has similar functionality to the lights out management (LOM) technology offered by other vendors, such as Dell DRAC, the IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter, and Cisco CIMC.
Some of the features of iLO include full command-line interface support through RS-232 port, SSH remote network access to iLO card supporting public key authentication, iLO Federation, two-factor authentication, and remote syslog. iLO provides some other utilities such as virtual power and a remote console. It is widely accepted as the standard for remotely managing servers in data centers.
Administrators can perform various operations on the HP ProLiant servers that support iLO, such as power on/off, set power saver mode, autopower on configuration, view server inventory details, view server NICs, view server slots, view server memory, view server processors, and boot PXE.
