Indiana's minimum wage in 2025 is $7.25 per hour, which is the same as the federal minimum wage. This rate has not changed since 2009. For tipped employees, the base wage is $2.13 per hour, as long as their total earnings (wage plus tips) reach at least the minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. Employers must make up the difference if tips plus base pay do not meet the minimum wage. Additionally, employees under 20 years old can be paid a training wage of $4.25 per hour for their first 90 days, and high school or college students working part-time or in work-study programs can be paid 85% of the minimum wage, which is $6.16 per hour.
Note that the city of Indianapolis has a higher minimum wage of $13 per hour as of July 1, 2023, but statewide in Indiana, it remains $7.25 per hour.
