Integrative Medicine
Integrative medicine combines conventional medicine with evidence-based complementary therapies to achieve optimal health and healing. It focuses on treating the whole person, including physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs, and aims for well-coordinated care among different providers and institutions. Integrative medicine emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between practitioner and patient, informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapies. Some common practices include acupuncture, massage therapy, meditation, and yoga. It neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative therapies uncritically, and it is based on good science and open to new paradigms.
