In Formula 1, the term "interval" refers to the difference in time between one driver and the next. It is usually displayed on the live leaderboard next to the name of the driver currently in pole position, and underneath the names of the remaining drivers in the race. For example, if Max Verstappen is in the lead and Charles Leclerc is in second with +0.656 next to his name, then the Ferrari is 0.656 seconds behind the Red Bull. The interval is an important statistic for F1 races as it shows how far each driver is behind the driver in front of them, and helps keep track of who can lap or pass the driver and make a move up the rankings of the entire race.
