iOS 2, also known as iPhone OS 2, is the second major release of Apple's iOS mobile operating system, launched on July 11, 2008. It was the first iOS version to officially support third-party applications through the introduction of the App Store. The update was released alongside the iPhone 3G and was also available for the first-generation iPhone and iPod Touch (for which it cost $9.95). Key features included a redesigned Mail app with push email, multiple calendars with color-coding, a scientific calculator in landscape mode, support for new languages, WPA2 and 802.1X internet protocols, and parental controls. It was succeeded by iPhone OS 3 in 2009.
