what is kindness

Kindness is a type of behavior marked by acts of generosity, consideration, rendering assistance, or concern for others, without expecting praise or reward in return. It is the sincere and voluntary use of ones time, talent, and resources to better the lives of others, ones own life, and the world through genuine acts of love, compassion, generosity, and service. Kindness involves choice because there are many alternatives to kindness that will tempt us through life, including apathy and anger. It is a quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate, and it goes beyond merely being nice. Kindness can mean doing intentional, voluntary acts of kindness, not only when it’s easy to be kind, but when it’s hard to be. Kindness is a movement that changes us by challenging us to not be satisfied with mediocrity, but to dare to do better and strive to be better. It is a reminder of why we’re here and how we can each use our lives to help others.
