Emmanuel Macron is a French politician who is currently serving as the 25th and current president of France since 2017. He was born on December 21, 1977, in Amiens, France, and studied philosophy before attending the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA) where he graduated in 2004. Macron has also served as the Minister of Economics, Industry and Digital Affairs under President François Hollande from 2014 to 2016 and Deputy Secretary-General to the President from 2012 to 2014. He launched the movement « En Marche ! » in 2016 and was its leader until his victory in the presidential election on 7 May 2017. Macron has advocated in favor of the free market and reducing the public-finances deficit.
