MagSafe is a series of proprietary magnetically attached power connectors and magnetic technology developed by Apple Inc. for Mac laptops and iPhone 12 or later models. The basic concept of MagSafe is derived from the magnetic power connectors that are part of many deep fryers and Japanese countertop cooking appliances since the early 2000s in order to avoid spilling their dangerously hot contents. The connector is held in place magnetically so that if it is tugged, it will be pulled out of the port without damaging the connector or the port, and without pulling the computer or phone off its surface. MagSafe is a fully wireless charging standard that enables wireless charging up to 15 watts, but its not only for charging. It also allows you to attach accessories like wallets and mounts that snap your phone using the same magnets. MagSafe is a magnetic technology built into the internal engineering of iPhone 12 or later models, and it senses other MagSafe compatible accessories and snaps seamlessly and securely into place. MagSafe will only attach to other compatible MagSafe accessories, so there’s no need to worry about other magnets interfering or getting stuck to your phone.
