Micro laser liposuction is a minimally invasive body contouring procedure that uses laser energy to remove excess fat from various areas of the body, including hard-to-reach areas like the upper arms. The procedure is designed to eliminate stubborn fat pockets that do not respond to exercise or diet. During the procedure, a plastic surgeon applies local anesthesia to numb the area so that the patient does not feel any pain. The surgeon then attaches paddle-like applicators to the area to be treated, which emit heat that penetrates the skin and heats up the fat cells underneath. The heat damages the membranes of the fat cells, causing them to die off, and the body then absorbs the dead cells. The procedure is less invasive than traditional liposuction and can be done in the doctors office, taking about half an hour, after which the patient can return to normal activity right away.
