Migraine is a neurological disorder that often causes a strong headache, which can last from four hours to several days

. It is not just a bad headache, but a disabling disease with different symptoms and different treatment approaches

. The most common symptom of migraine is the intense throbbing head pain, which can be so severe that it interferes with day-to-day activities

. Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, sound, or smell, fatigue, food cravings or lack of appetite, mood changes, and tingling or numbness on one side of the body

. In about a third of people living with migraine, aura might occur before or even during a migraine attack. Aura is the term used for these temporary reversible neurological symptoms, which are usually visual but can include other neurological symptoms as well

. The causes of migraine are not fully understood, but genetics and environment play a role

. Migraine attacks can be triggered by a variety of factors, including sudden changes in weather or environment, too much or not enough sleep, strong odors or fumes, stress, overexertion, and hormonal changes

. There is no cure for migraine headaches, but medications can help prevent some migraines and make them less painful
