As of December 31, 2022, the minimum wage in New York State is $15.00 per hour for all NYC employers, fast food industry workers in NYC, fast food industry workers outside NYC, Long Island & Westchester County, and tipped workers (rates vary by region) . For the remainder of New York State, the minimum wage is $14.20 per hour. These rates are in effect from December 31, 2022, through December 30, 2023. However, according to recent legislation signed by Governor Kathy Hochul, the minimum wage will gradually increase through 2026 to $17/hour in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County, and $16.50/hour for the remainder of New York State. The minimum wage will increase as follows:
- January 1, 2024: $16/hour for New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County; $15/hour for the remainder of New York State.
- January 1, 2025: $16.50/hour for New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County; $15.50/hour for the remainder of New York State.
- January 1, 2026: $17/hour for New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County; $16/hour for the remainder of New York State.
