As of January 1, 2023, the minimum wage in San Diego is $16.30 per hour. This applies to all employees who perform at least two hours of work in one or more calendar weeks within the geographic boundaries of the City of San Diego. The minimum wage in the rest of San Diego County, as well as the state of California, is currently $15.00 per hour for employers with 26 or more employees and $14.00 per hour for employers with 25 or less employees. However, San Diegos minimum wage takes precedence over the states minimum wage rate, so the higher local minimum wage rate must be paid to all employees covered by the local minimum wage regulation.
