Mitsubishi is a Japanese multinational conglomerate with a diverse range of businesses, including Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, which is a well-known automobile manufacturer headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. Mitsubishi Motors has a rich history dating back to 1917 when it produced Japans first series-production automobile, the Mitsubishi Model A. The name "Mitsubishi" consists of two parts: "mitsu" meaning "three" and "hishi" meaning "water caltrop," which is reflected in the companys logo. The Mitsubishi Group, from which Mitsubishi Motors originated, was founded in 1870 and historically descended from the Mitsubishi zaibatsu, a unified company which existed from 1870 to 1946. Today, Mitsubishi Motors is part of the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance and continues to be a prominent player in the global automotive industry.
