A mouse can refer to two different things: a small rodent or a computer peripheral device. In this context, we will focus on the computer mouse. A computer mouse is a small device that a computer user pushes across a desk surface in order to point to a place on a display screen and to select one or more actions to take from that position. It is a handheld hardware input device that controls a cursor in a GUI (graphical user interface) for pointing, moving, and selecting text, icons, files, and folders on a computer. The mouse first became a widely used computer tool when Apple Computer made it a standard part of the Apple Macintosh. Today, the mouse is an integral part of the graphical user interface (GUI) of any PC. The name "mouse" comes from its size as it is a small, corded, and elliptical shape device that looks a bit like a mouse. A connecting wire of a mouse is imaginable to be the mouses tail. Mice typically have two buttons, a scroll wheel, and a laser sensor. They are used to move the cursor on the screen, select objects, and click on buttons.
