What Time Is Noon EDT / 6pm CEST in Chennai?
If you’re in Chennai, India, noon EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) converts to 9:30 PM IST , and 6:00 PM CEST (Central European Summer Time) converts to 8:30 PM IST.
How the Conversion Works
Chennai operates on India Standard Time (IST) , which is UTC+5:30 year-round and does not observe daylight saving time.
- EDT is UTC−4 during daylight saving months (roughly March to November in the US).
- Difference: IST is 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of EDT.
- So, 12:00 PM (noon) EDT → 9:30 PM IST in Chennai.
- CEST is UTC+2 during European summer (roughly late March to late October).
- Difference: IST is 3 hours 30 minutes ahead of CEST.
- So, 6:00 PM CEST → 8:30 PM IST in Chennai.
