NSG stands for Nuclear Suppliers Group, which is a multilateral export control regime and a group of nuclear supplier countries that seek to prevent nuclear proliferation by controlling the export of materials, equipment, and technology that can be used to manufacture nuclear weapons. The NSG was founded in response to the Indian nuclear test in May 1974 and first met in November 1975. The group aims to prevent nuclear exports for commercial and peaceful purposes from being used for military purposes.
In addition, NSG is also an abbreviation for Azure Network Security Group, which is a core component of Azures security fabric. It is effectively a set of access control rules assigned to an Azure resource that inspects inbound and outbound traffic and uses these rules to determine whether it should grant or deny access to a particular network packet. Azure NSGs control access and manage communication between individual workloads hosted on one or more Azure VNets and connectivity between on-premises environments and Azure via an Azure VNet.
