OYO Rooms, also known as OYO Hotels & Homes, is an Indian multinational hospitality chain of leased and franchised hotels, homes, and living spaces. It was founded in 2012 by Ritesh Agarwal and initially consisted mainly of budget hotels. OYO Rooms is the largest branded network of hotels, currently operating 450,000 listings in 5,000 cities in India, Malaysia, UAE, Nepal, China, and Indonesia.
OYO Rooms offers standardized AC rooms, breakfast, LED TV, Wi-Fi, and hygienic washrooms in over 230 cities. They have more than 43,000 properties and 1 million rooms across 800 cities in 80 countries, including India, Malaysia, the UAE, Nepal, China.
OYO Rooms business model has changed since 2018. Earlier, the company used to organize the partner with hotels, lease some rooms, and sell them under its own brand. However, now they take part of their partner hotel rooms for lease and control them entirely to provide standardized customer experience to its users.
OYO Rooms has enjoyed a meteoric rise, attracting venture funding from investors including Silicon Valley’s Sequoia Capital and Japan’s SoftBank Group.
