Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) is a temporary food benefit program operating during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of P-EBT is to provide food assistance to families with students who would have received free or reduced lunch while attending school but are not able to due to COVID-related school closures and/or COVID-related reductions in school hours or attendance. P-EBT provides benefits to all eligible children without needing to apply. Eligible school children receive temporary emergency nutrition benefits loaded on EBT cards that are used to purchase food. P-EBT benefits are very similar to SNAP benefits. The standard P-EBT benefit amount will be $120.00 for all eligible children. P-EBT is available for school-age children between the ages of 3-17 and youth aged 18-22 (in high school) . Summer 2023 P-EBT benefits will be systematically issued onto the eligible childs P-EBT card and will be viewable on the Benefits Summary Screen and within the P-EBT module in IES.
