Plain Cement Concrete (PCC) in construction refers to a mixture of cement, fine aggregate (sand), and coarse aggregate. It is used to form a level surface before starting any reinforced concrete (R.C.C) or masonry work directly on the excavated soil, in order to avoid laying concrete on soil directly and to prevent soil from extracting water from the concrete, which could weaken it. PCC is also known as blinding concrete or cement concrete (CC) and is used in various construction applications such as pavement, footpaths, floor slabs, culverts, and bridges. The strength of PCC is defined by its compressive strength after 28 days, expressed as M15, M20, where M stands for Mix and the number represents the compressive strength at 28 days. The proportions of materials for nominal mix/design mix concrete that are normally used are 1:3:6 or 1:4:8. PCC is a versatile material that can be easily molded into various shapes and sizes and provides good resistance against weathering and erosion.
