Proof of Concept (POC)
A proof of concept (POC), also known as proof of principle, is a demonstration of a product, service, or solution in a sales context, with the aim of determining whether an idea can be turned into a reality. It is a realization of a certain method or idea to demonstrate its feasibility or to verify that a concept or theory has practical potential. POCs are commonly small and are created by employees, team leaders, or project managers to test the feasibility of business concepts and proposals, solve business problems, and accelerate business innovation goals.
In addition to its business context, POC can also refer to "person(s) of color" or "people of color" in the context of race and ethnicity.
