Post Matric Scholarship is a financial assistance program that supports the education of students studying at the post-secondary or post-matriculation level. The scholarship is available for students from Class 11 to postdoctoral level who are looking for financial support to fund their higher education. The Government of India and other state governments run a number of post-matric scholarships for students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Minority community.

The scholarship is implemented through State Governments and UT administrations and is available for studies in India only. The scholarship is awarded by the government of the State/Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e., where he/she is permanently settled. The scholarship covers professional, technical as well as non-professional and non-technical courses at various levels, including correspondence courses. The scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other scholarship/stipend.

The value of the scholarship includes maintenance allowance, reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees, study tour charges, and thesis typing/printing charges for Research Scholars. The maintenance allowance amount ranges from Rs. 380/- to 1200/- per month for hostellers and Rs. 230/- to Rs. 550/- per month for day scholars. The scholarships are paid to the students whose parents/guardians’ income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum.

The eligibility criteria, application process, and documents required for the scholarship vary depending on the scholarship provider and region. Almost every scholarship invites online applications from eligible candidates through their respective portals and websites. Some of the most popular portals where you can apply for these scholarships include National Scholarship Portal (NSP), UP scholarship portal, MP scholarship portal, Digital Gujarat Portal, and Delhi Government Portal.
