Power Play is an add-on feature to the US Powerball lottery that allows players to increase their non-jackpot prize winnings for an additional $1 per play. When a player chooses the Power Play option, a separate Power Play number is drawn ahead of the main numbers, and everyone who opted-in to Power Play and who wins a non-jackpot prize has it multiplied by that figure. The Power Play multiplier number is picked at random before each draw, and players must choose the Power Play option when they buy their Powerball ticket. The Power Play feature doubles the second division prize to $2 million and multiplies winnings from the 3rd to 9th prize divisions up to five times. However, Power Play does not apply to the US Powerball jackpot, but it can increase all the other prize categories in the game.
